IYRS has a great 2 year Boatbuilding and Restoration program. I attended Fall 2021 through Spring 2023. At the time I was a 55 years old career changer and as the result of my education there I was able to work as first a intern at Mystic Seaport during the summer of 2022, and after graduation was hired as the paint shop Manager at Mystic Seaport. You are never too old to try new things or go after your passion and IYRS was a fantastic opportunity with committed Alumni, Staff and Instructors. Note if you visit, the schooner Coronet is no longer there it has been moved to Mystic Seaport in Mystic CT for completion and fitting out.
This is Maritime School, as the name says. Would you happen to need a Maritime craftsman?
Graduation. The boats in foreground have all been built or rebuilt by students. Absolutely fabulous.
