We have enjoyed all of our summer breaks and holiday breaks at Apple Orchard Academy! Our son literally begs to go each time school is out. They spend time engaging with the kids and taking them on field trips. This is year 3 for us and can't wait for another amazing summer.
My daughter has been with this program since the doors opened and now my son is a part of it. This program allowed my daughter to stay above the curve during COVID when other students were home and falling behind. My son participated in the transitional program as a late bday baby and is now rocking kindergarten on a 1st or even 2nd grade level. I could go on and on about this program, However, I saw a review on here that was quite disturbing, and I want to spend my review addressing Sara Huff’s review and dismantling those prevaricated accusations: 1) she said there was a complete lack of communication. I’ve attached photos and screenshots that ALL PARENTS/GUARDIANS received in Brightwheel AND a hard copy that we had to sign for reflecting every move made at The Orchard. It is OUR responsibility to check those messages and refer to those notices. 2) we did not sign our kids up for year round school. They each have the opportunity to receive tutoring. But the staff will not force kids to comply with activities. We as parents are informed daily if our children had difficulty accomplishing assigned tasks and why so that we can work with our own kids to be successful in cooperating the next day. Movie days did happen, but it was certainly not the only things. 3) the school may be smaller than most facilities around, but they meet the regulation standards of student to teacher ratios for both afterschool and summer camp programs or they wouldn’t be an accredited private school. Every parent tours the facility before signing our kids up. Whereas there is no on site playground equipment, the staff transport the kids to a nearby park (5 minutes away) where the kids enjoy the ride and the time there. I’ve met them there on many occasions just to watch them play. She also rents fun jumps, water slides and other fun things to come on site during summer camp months. 4) the contract that we signed outlines payment/credit/refund policies and is communicated in depth through the time in the program. I truly hate that her brave little girl did not enjoy being there. I hope that she regains her confidence elsewhere as I’m sure her resilience and familial support will encourage her to do so.
My child has attended this summer camp for 2 years straight and absolutely loves it. During the summer registration, we were provided a tour of the facility , monthly schedules and daily schedules. The camp also provided extra daily and monthly schedules at the entrance for parents so you would always know and remember the activities. Ms Kisa has been so amazing with my child. The summer camp provides engaging activities all summer long. I love the academic environment the camp provides. The staff was great with communication and provided immediate updates on any changes. Parents are invited on field trips which I love. I absolutely recommend this school!
This school is awesome. My oldest loves The Apple Orchard and all the teachers there are amazing. The owner Ms Kisa is very knowledgeable on getting the best out of each individual child and has a keen interest in every student academic future.
I would not recommend sending any child to this business, especially their summer camp. We had an absolutely terrible experience. 1. There was complete lack of communication. If I did not specifically ask them what they were doing that day I would have no idea. One day they were literally planning to drive my kid to Laurel without telling me. 2. They were supposedly providing 3, one hour tutoring sessions a day. Not a single day did my kid have anything to say when we asked her what she learned/played that day. What did she tell us? All about the 2-3 feature length movies she watched that day. 3. They are cramming way too many kids into this small space. There is no outdoor equipment for the kids to play on. My daughter said she literally just played in the dirt on the few occasions they were let outside. 4. The absolute worst part? My confident, brave girl devolved into tears every morning BEGGING me not to send her back. When I asked for a refund for her last week so I could send her somewhere else, they refused.
