My daughter started at Prairie Moon when she was 2 1/2 and she's now 9. This school has supported her in so many ways and I love how connected she feels to the teachers, her classmates and the students in other grades, and the community as a whole. She loves going to school and I love the screen-free, nature-based curriculum.
Prairie Moon Waldorf School is the best education in Lawrence Kansas. One-on-one experiential learning, fantastic facility, and incredible educators. Children learn handwork, farming, art, music, science, literature, woodwork, civics. This is a brilliant school for exceptional students. If you want to get your children out of the iPad/computer learning model, Prairie Moon Waldorf School is the place to send your children.
We absolutely love Prairie Moon and the Waldorf philosophy. The teachers are wonderful and it is such a kind and loving community.
We adore Prairie Moon Waldorf School! We searched high and low for a school that matches our values of holistic education - a program that enriches not just the mind academically but also nourishes the body and spirit. My both my 5 yr old (in EC) and my 3rd grader adore coming to school and have cultivated a deep love of learning at PMWS. My 3rd grader not only learns the basics of math, reading and science (she loves al 3), but also enjoys a wide variety of enriching extracurricular activities that encompass music theory, movement and games, lots of outdoor play, knitting and fiber skills, wax and clay sculpture, watercolor, pentatonic flute, singing, and is even becoming proficient in speaking Mandarin! The classrooms are warm and welcoming, the teachers are kind and loving, and the community is supportive and fun! We especially love the seasonal festivals. What a gem this school is for the Lawrence, Topeka and KC surrounding areas.
