Wonderful school. Great pedagogy and fantastic educators.
We are so lucky to have stumbled across such a wonderful community. Our little one is neurodivergent and has developed so many tools and skills that help him navigate gracefully in all aspects of life. His growth is directly linked to the care and intention of all of the staff. As a parent, I appreciate the small class sizes and even smaller academic groups that have helped my child get the personalized attention they need. The students are filled with wonder in a way that seems to be dwindling with the rise of screens. Limestone revives imagination and relationship to the natural world. I can’t wait to see how my child will shine as they grow in this environment.
It was a mixed bag of an experience at Limestone. They are a project-based nature school and create an environment where students are able to learn in a way that works for them. Madeline has a wonderful vision and I love the concept. I hope one day it comes fully into fruition. Unfortunately, we had an incident that made me feel the need to pull her from school. My daughter (who was enrolled in the kindergarten class) hit the back of her head on Wednesday August 27th in the afternoon. When I picked her up with my brother around 3:30pm, there was no staff member with her to inform me. They called me twice when I was driving to pick her up so I didn't see the calls. They did not reach out via text, email, or the playground app. Not only did she inform me of her injury herself, she did have a small concussion. They allowed her to continue to play on the playground after her injury as well and did not follow concussion protocol. She had a very large bump on the back of her head, ran a low grade fever, had a severe headache and felt nauseated for the following 24 hours. She still has some sensitivity on that spot on her head. Madeline was out of town that week, so her staff were operating on their own and may have needed her direction. It is a young school and this may never happen again, but I want to caution other parents that this could happen to their child.
Limestone has been incredible for our family. There’s a true sense of community rooted in all that they do. Now, I’m biased, but Limestone has low class sizes, fresh meals each day and gives permission to children to make waves in their community. It’s a special place.
